The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) was founded in 1968 to promote and advance aesthetic education, to cultivate the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts and to support the conservation of our national artistic heritage.
Dorset County Decorative and Fine Arts Society (DCDFAS) has been a member society of NADFAS since 1978.
Our society meets in the evening on the third Thursday of each month except July, August and December. (Please note that the 2013 November meeting is on the second Thursday.) These informal occasions are always well attended and include an illustrated lecture. Our speakers, who are all experts in their specialist fields, are taken from a directory maintained by NADFAS.
Special Interest Days are also organised in which subjects are studied in greater depth. Our Visits’ Organisers take outings to historical and cultural venues and every few years go on a 4 or 5 day visit somewhere in the UK or overseas. We have two additional ticketed social events each year, a Summer Party and a Christmas Lecture and Dinner.
Our programme gives members many opportunities to catch up with old friends, make new ones and visit new places. You can find out more about all these events in the various sections of our web site.
DCDFAS also works towards supporting the Young Arts, Church Trails and Heritage Volunteering.
